The Difference Between The Gold, Platinum and Executive Beat Licenses

Gold Artist

These types of licenses are generally granted to newer artists. If you're focused on just recording solid song(s) & you have access to an exceptionally talented audio/recording engineer, then this could prove to be an ideal option for you as an emerging artist.

The Upside:

  • These Beat Licenses are most affordable

  • Easy to get your song started & finished quickly.

The Downside:

  • You only get 1 single beat file

  • Song quality (mixing/mastering) can only be "so good"

Platinum Artist

Although these types of licenses are generally granted to newer artists as well, this license is actually a pretty big step up from the Gold Artist licensing option because it comes with stem files. This will provide much more control & flexibility over your music during the mixing stages. This is because, instead of just receiving the beat in one file, the track is broken down into 4 different major aspects: The Bass, Kick Drum(s), Percussion & Grouped Instruments.

The Up Side:

  • Let's say that your song's kick drum or sub bass is too low, with this option, you'd be able to CRANK UP THE BASS without ruining the rest of the beat. If it was just a single .wav file, even though it would technically be possible to do so, it's just not Ideal and the effects wouldn't be that great.

The Downside:

  • Because it is broken down into only 4 tracks, you'll have limited control of the separate instruments in the beat. For simpler songs, you may be able to get away with this but if the track that you have you ear on is a bit more complex, then the Executive Licensing option may be a better fit for your overall needs.

Executive Artist

Similar to the Platinum Artist option, the Executive option offers multi-track files. These are similar to stem files as in they also contain separate elements of a beat. Unlike stem files however, the multi-track files are broken down into each individual sound & instrument of the beat (not  limited to just the 4 previously mentioned ones). This provides MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY for your engineer during the final mixing stages of your song.

The Upside:

  • Let's say that you want to take the horns out during a certain part of the beat. With this option, you'd be able to do so because unlike the stem file option, the instruments are ALL tracked individually. You could remove the horns, switch them to another part of the beat and almost anything else you could possibly think of. This option offers the most control over your entire song.

The Downside:

  • These licenses are a bit more expensive. If that doesn't bother you, then these are the best licenses to go with.

We hope this has given you a better understanding of the different licensing options that are available to you through The Instrumental Headquarters.
